The real estate industry as well as the solar industry all over the world is going to get a major thrust with this technological advancement that lets you access how much sunlight is falling on your roof, how many trees are obstructing it and how many panels are required to tap that solar energy into your house.

It’s called Project Sunroof. According to Google, the app uses the data from Google Earth, calculates the amount of solar energy that can be used per year and provides an estimate on how much energy has been saved. At present, this technology is available only in Boston, the San Francisco Bay Area and central California and is expected to spread in all over the world soon.

Developed by their engineer, Carl Elkin, he foresees the future of real estate in technology and energy. With the National Green Tribunal (NGT) of India focusing on maintaining the greens in the country, this could be news that is useful for them. The level of awareness and need of utilizing the solar resources is quite low in the country barring Gujarat that hosts the country’s largest solar power plant in Bitta, Kutch district by the Adani group.

Imagine yourself using this app while you tap on your search to find a property in Delhi that gives you maximum sunlight on your roof. The value of your property also appreciates according to the sunlight it gets. A new parameter that provides the buyers and sellers about a new development that enhances the value of their property shall soon be a trendsetter.

As found out in a study, people belonging to their 20's have bought their first house in the country changing the trend from 40's earlier. Given this shift, sooner or later, buying flats in Delhi shall also be concerned with solar energy consumption. The new generation is more open to change which is why solar is the future of India.
